Fall brought lots of changes to the educational system in Apple Valley.
Ilila Peterson had finally reached the point where managing two schools was too much for one principal. Thankfully she was able to convince Jasmine Frankson to take the reins as principal of the primary school.
During the summer a small office for Jasmine was carved out of the limited space in the primary school. Ilila hoped that soon there would be a budget for a new primary school building. Something with one level as the little ones always took so long walking the halls and stairs in the old building.
She planned on submitting a proposal to the hood council about new construction due to the population boom.
Thankfully she did have the budget not only to promote Jasmine, but to hire two new teachers at the primary school.
Simora Sweeny was taking over as the kindergarten teacher to replace Jasmine. She came highly recommended from Pierce University and Ilila was taking a chance on a brand new teacher.
However she was confident that Simora would bring a lot to the classroom.
The second teacher was to replace Walter who moved over the summer. Ricky Thorn had years of experience as a teacher in various hoods. Ilila had Jasmine to thank for Ricky's hiring since he was Jasmine's brother and she managed to convince him to move to Apple Valley to be close to family.
Ilila was confident that it would be a great year.
There was a great team of faculty in place at the primary school and a budding proposal for a new school building in the future.
The future was bright.
That would definitely be a load off for Ilila! I'm glad she'll just have to focus on the high school now. Is the high school still on the same lot or are they separate now? I wasn't sure if you meant "new school building" as in a separate lot or if you already had a separate lot and were building a new one!
ReplyDeleteYay for a new principal and new teachers! That is going to be super helpful, and much less responsibility for Ilila! I really like the way you write down the students names and grades, I may look into trying that myself if it doesn't look absurd with my amount of students.
ReplyDeleteSo true about the students taking a long time on the stairs! Once I get mine to their classroom, I try to utilize the rooms that are on their specific floor. It helps streamline the students, but the cafeteria always takes up time.
