My Brother's Child

Astute is so much like my brother. He looks like him and even snores like him! I hate that Astaire is no longer with us, that stupid bus accident and all Astute recieved was a measly sum of simoleans. Not even enough for a college education if he desired. He is very much like my brother, he loves sports and always wants to play catch and run and is very active. Maybe he'll be a athlete as well.

Busy and Tired

Work is so busy lately, managing updates and back-ups and keeping things running behind the scenes technically is very hard. In addition to maintaining records and the historical society and the library and the newspaper!

Yikes! I needed a break! So I took the day and spent it browsing through CupaJava. I ate a snack, had some coffee and even saw the new shipment of books from Pennelson Publishing. I feel refreshed now.

Archives/Technology Note: Website

Many residents have expressed confusion about the website and how often the website is updated and the difficulty in keeping up with updates. Not to mention the increased job duties of the Archives/Technology Officer (me).

As a result, the website will now be updated at least twice a month and at least one blog will be updated each day, however this will no longer be reflected be any special notation. Instead when the website is updated a list of blogs (by family) that have been updated will be listed.

This will be effective Dec 1, 2007

Website Changes

The website is undergoing some changes-trying to make it more user friendly and post more information. Perhaps a site map?

Other than that just copeing with raising two toddlers and enjoying life. The kids will be children soon and Elda is planning a small party with all three sets of grandparents attending... actually that isn't small.

Archives/Technology Note-Update

Another update report:

Assist in the management of family tree information: Goal is to update the family tree document bi-monthly. Uploading this as we speak along with an updated map of the hood. Revamped the family tree to allow links bewteen each family and to allow the database to be smaller. This is taking more time than anticipated and will be uploaded later this year.

Collect community & residents registry: Template and tools are now online for other hood administrators to download. Trying to decide if we should collect skill and badge information since this is very dynamic.

Test and implement 3rd party technology: With the new deal working on implementing a "patch" to the hood's infrastructure. The testing folders are quite large as residents buy more items online and ask for it to be tested. Will look into limiting the amounts of items residents may purchase. Also, the folders are due for a cull-will do inventory of cc items and delete little used items by the end of the year.

Perform back-ups of resident information: Another backup was done right before the "patch" was implemented. Patch was implemented, still in testing to note any changes and ill-effects.

Serve as local reporter: on track.

Manage the local library: Still not so well. Plan on creating a reading incentive plan with the community director.

Worried

I'm worried about my brother-he seems very depressed. We talked and wow...I'd be depressed too! His wife left him to move to another hood, the love of his life is married to another man and moved out the hood as well and his performance on the team is suffering. Yikes! Elda and I have been spending more time with Astute-our nephew since his father is in such a bad state.

Archives/Technology Notes

Another update report:

Assist in the management of family tree information: Goal is to update the family tree document bi-monthly. Missed August's deadline-next update is September, along with updated map of the hood.

Collect community & residents registry: Will offer template to other hoods by request.

Test and implement 3rd party technology: Going well, technology is held in testing folder and changes are noted due to the usage-however the folders are getting quite large as residents buy more items online and ask for it to be tested. SOLVED-recent apprearences of menu-options on fridges for "management/make single plates/bank controllor" or "management/make single plates/colonial window" due to the massive imports of new food items from TSR2. All new recipes taken out and will slowly be reintroduced to find the culprit-might be a conflict bewteen the foods and Monique's computer system the hood uses.

Perform back-ups of resident information: With the new deal -another backup was done right before the hood council signed it.

Serve as local reporter: online paper is published each simday, new section of paper added with reviews of local establishments.

Manage the local library: Still not so well, residents don't utilize the library, perhaps creating special events? Incentives for reading?

Working

My latest assignment-besides the Dawson case-has been to review Smokey Jane's-can't say anything, but it will be in the AV News. Also, did an interview with Fiorenza Pentrignani for STAR-you'll read about that little drama as well. Thomasina is growing well, I wonder if we should consider another baby?

Papa

Thomasina is a toddler now, she's so cute, she looks like Elda, but she has my brown hair.

Archives/Technology Notes

Apparently I must submit regular reports to the hood council on my tasks and progress.

Assist in the management of family tree information: the family tree will be updated in August. Goal is to update the family tree document monthly.

Collect community & residents registry: going well, the file is rather large, perhaps we can offer the template to other hoods to manage thier resident data.

Test and implement 3rd party technology: Going well, technology is held in testing folder and changes are noted due to the usage. Currently investigating recent apprearences of menu-options on fridges for "management/make single plates/bank controllor" or "management/make single plates/colonial window"

Perform back-ups of resident information: Going well, perform back-up of data each simday

Serve as local reporter: going well, online paper is to be published each simday, new section of paper to be added with reviews of local establishments.

Manage the local library: not so well, Community Director wants a children's reading hour established, need to encourage more residents to utilize the library.

Work is Going

rather well. I officially have three jobs: Reporter/Editor-in-Chief of Apple Valley News (a salary based position); the Archive/Technology Officer of the hood which means I run the website, archives, geneology records, and library (a very very small stipend that isn't worth mentioning); and I'm a correspondant for STAR (about $500 an issue, which at best is monthly). I took some photos of CupaJava for an upcoming review and my proposal for an online version of the paper was approved, just in time for the Dawson murder scandal.

Proud Papa

I'm a proud papa! Elda and I had a little girl, we named her Thomasina in honor of my grandfather (Tom) and late uncle (Thomas). She's the apple of my eye, so cute and it looks like she might have Elda's dark hair and eyes. We will have to move again, we just moved below Elda's parents and the hood council is giving us until simMonday to find new housing so they can demolish this lot and build affordable housing. I am going to put in our application for a townhome, we'll be renting it, but that's about all we can afford right now.

Investigation! Scandals!

Being a journalist is amazing! I am invesitigating the suspicious death of our neighbor, Brad Dawson. The offical report is that he died of exposure...duh, being locked outside in the snow in your underwear is not a good thing. Especially not in the snow-which I admit, was my doing. I was playing around with the weather machine and forgot to turn off the snow switch, but...Brad never forgot his keys...he was top notch military, not the type to forget his keys and get locked outside when no one was at home...except his sleeping lover. Very suspicious indeed and now his son is rushing to leave the hood. Hmm...

New Duties

Woohoo!!! Not only will I be a father soon, but I am now a hood employee-actually, the first hood employee!!! They needed a journalist for the local paper and I applied and won the job. I have an office at The Centre-it's small, but it will do nicely for now. I write articles for the paper and submit them to the SUN board, I also manage the library and help students with thier research, I am now in charge of hood archives as well. I manage the history and family trees of the hood. *whew* It's a lot of work! I have a small daily salary and a stipend for my other work. Like my new camera?

Baby

Elda and I are trying to have a baby. My blog is going well, rather interesting to have the opportunity to write a blog on the synthetics industry. I love it. Elda still teaching biology at Snooty Academy.

I found a new machine-it can change the weather. I madde it snow! hahahaha! Opps, did I turn it off? I don't remember.

Present and Accounted For

Clark-check
Elda-check

We are newlyweds and live with the strange, but enchanting, woman, Zaida. What a lovely name, Zaida. Elda works as a jr. high biology teacher. The science career is full, so I am without a job at the moment. I think I would rather like to go into gaming and computer technology, perhaps even journalism and checking the facts. We have considered having a child, but perhaps it is best to wait a little while for such things, especially since we will need to move soon...I conjecture.
