Far From Easy, 2012

Havar, fall, 2012
Jesse is 46, Fiona is 43, Veronika is 14, Jessica and Jennifer are 9, Jeremy is 7

Tomorrow would be Blessed Harvest Day and Fiona had the day off from work. The house was empty and Jesse left her a long list of things to pick up.

Her first stop was her office, as even though she had the day off, she still accepted an appointment.

Usually she wouldn't be talking to a sim in Johan's situation, seeking advice concerning a dead wife,

but Johan was a friend and she wanted to be their for him.

After her consultation she looked at her list again. She had to find a dessert, which meant a trip to CupaJava. She loved the bakery, the smells were amazing.

"Thanks again, Sazo! See you later, Ray. You really ought to think about opening a bakery again!"

Ray smiled in response. He would love to open a bakery, but with one failed business behind him and the unpaid loan to still remind him of his failure, the best choice at the moment would probably be to continue working for Sazo instead.

Her next stop was the Grey Farmer's Market, for Jesse's organic beans. She was easily distracted by the cheeses. They looked so delicious sitting there, the large rounds of shiny coatings and the rich smell of musk.

"You could pick up a few to make a nice cheese tray."

She nodded and placed some on the counter when she saw it. It was so shiny and sparkly, and was softly calling Fiona, buy me!

"The fish as well, please."

She didn't know what she was thinking, buying that fresh piece of fish and thinking that she could make the easy recipe she found online. That recipe didn't tell her the evils of capers or the delicate nature of fresh fish. Instead she was left with blackened jumbo large mouth bass so horrible, that the dog wouldn't eat it.

Jesse banned her and the children from the kitchen the next day. He didn't need any distractions while making the meal. He had a long list of items to make for the Blessed Harvest dinner including the turkey. Fiona had helped by picking up a rack of roasted llama and making the mac and cheese and Cesar salad, which thankfully wasn't burnable.

"Thank you for this wonderful meal and all our blessings. Amen."

"Amen," the family echoed.

"This is sooo good." Veronika said after her third helping.

"Thank you."

"I think now is a good time, Jesse."

"You're right."

"Good time for what?" Jennifer asked eyeing the dessert.

"Your mother and I are-"

"No! Don't say you're getting a divorce!" Jessica screamed.

"We're not getting a divorce."

"Are you having another baby?" Jeremy asked suspiciously.

"No!" Fiona gasped before pouring herself another glass of nectar.

"Then what?"

"If you let me finish, I was going to say that your mother and I have decided that the family will be moving."

"To where?!?!?!"

"The townhouse next door."

There was an audible sigh of relief as the children realized that they were not being shipped to another hood away from their family and friends.

The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing,

playing games,

whispering sweet nothings and

catching up on overdue homework.

The move was far from easy, but that's why they paid movers to pack everything up and set it up in the new house. Even though it was a townhouse, there was a bit more room and they were in the coveted Cottersmore Gardens neighborhood.

Thanks to selling their home to a commercial real estate company, they were able to buy the townhouse without a mortgage and even had simoleans left over to remodel the home.

"Maybe one day we'll add a balcony off of our bedroom," Fiona whispered while looking out the window over the neighborhood.

"One day."

The Kents have moved to my Cottersmore Townhomes

Fiona burns just about everything, except for geletin and salad.

  1. LOL, poor Fiona; I have some Sims like that. The descriptions of all the food were making me a bit hungry though!

So glad their move went well and that it left them in such a fantastic financial situation. Very welcome with 4 kids, I'm sure.

    1. The townhouse is a 1x2 lot vs the 2x2 of their other house, so there was bound to be money left over. They still have four university tuitions to save for though, yikes! Thanks for reading and commenting.

  2. I'm glad they didn't have to move far and that the townhouse will work out better for them. I'm sure it will be very nice having a little more room!

Poor Fiona! At least she tried to make a good dinner. ;)

    1. LOL, Fiona should stick with salad since she still occasionally burns the mac and cheese. Thanks for commenting and reading.

  3. Poor Fiona! Never learned how to make basic Mac and cheese without burning it. At least Jesse can do it or they'd have a pitiful Blessed Harvest Day spread. The dinner looked great and the moving is exciting especially the part of no mortgage!

    1. LOL, I don't know how the Blessed Harvest Day meal would turn out if Fiona was in charge, though to be honest, she would probably just order a caterer. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  4. Hello again - sorry for vanishing. Again. You know how it is when stuff gets in the way of Simming time. I am back this time, and so is my old hood, once I can get it up and running again.

I bet Fiona probably would have burned that salad if it was possible. Good thing Jesse is able to handle it. The new house is looking great, by the way, and it's good that they have more room and some extra money now - with four kids, they'll need it. It's probably for the best that Jesse andd Fiona's announcement wasn't that they were having another baby!

    1. LOL, I believe that Fiona could probably mess up salad if possible. I think these two are done with children, unless there's another oppsie. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  6. LOL Mary is the same way. She burns everything. If she could she would burn water. My gosh, I thought Fiona was going to agree and say that they were having another baby! Glad they are only moving house. And to an area where they wanted to live.

  7. I love the fact that you have your sims celebrate unique holidays. It is cool, but I am sure a lot of tracking and planning is involved.

It's a good thing that Jesse know how to cook because poor Fiona might have ended up burning the Blessed Harvest dinner.

    1. Some simple tracking in my rotation schedule, but nothing elaborate. RL is too busy for that.
