Remar, summer, 2022
mini-update
Jesse was worried and riddled with anxiety. He wasn't sleeping well and Fiona said that he would often toss and turn until the dawn. He was forgetting the smallest of details like did he turn the stove off, or did he lock the door. Finally Fiona sat him down and sternly said "we need to talk".

New Beginnings, 2020
Peacar, winter, 2020
Laci McMillian is 23, Veronika Kent is 23
Laci was glad to finally be done with university, even if it only meant that she was now in vet school doing her graduate studies. She missed Zhou and hoped that he would return to Apple Valley soon, but he was busy teaching abroad and fulfilling his obligation. When organizations pay for your tuition, they want their investment returned.

They were in the final countdown, almost. It was Laci and Veronika's senior year. They had checked off most things from their university bucket list including studying abroad, joining a sorority and discovering their sexuality, or lack there of. The only thing left was to graduate.

It's been a bit quiet around the dorm. Our RA's girlfriend died in an hostage situation near the end of last semester, so everyone's been avoiding him. He mostly spends his time studying. I think it's to keep his mind off of things. He's already on the Dean's List and has been accepted to medical school. The rumor is that he had planned on proposing to her after graduation, but we will never know.

Patar, summer, 2010
Jesse is 44, Fiona is 41, Veronika is 12, Jessica and Jennifer are 7, Jeremy is 5
She was giddy during the entire flight, anxious to reach the city and start exploring and start painting. She wasn't at all nervous when they left that morning. Why should she be? It wasn't her first plane ride, nor her first trip. But for some reason her mother seemed nervous. She would look at her with a sad look and whisper "my baby". Sometimes Veronika did not understand her parents.

Peacar, winter, 2007

Late last simyear, the Kent family lost their home in an electrical fire. The family was safe but everything was loss in the fire and they had to start over. Veronika was the most upset in the family considering several of her pieces that she prepared for her show were in the house and destroyed. She was slowly working on new pieces and excited that sims from all over the simworld were talking about her work.

Right Decision, 2006
Resar, fall, 2006
Jesse is 40, Fiona is 37, Veronika is 8, Jessica and Jennifer are 3, Jeremy is 1
Fiona bit back a groan as she sat next to Jesse. It was far too early, but they both had studying to do. Fiona was in the midst of obtaining her advanced degree, the last step needed before she could make partner at Stern and Clerks. It was already in the works and she had been doing her work as well to make it a reality.
Becoming partner would limit the amount of outside work she would be able to handle, Fiona was well aware of this, but she wanted to be partner a lot more than she wanted other things, things like that family vacation, the responsibility of being hood president or even the extra hours of sleep.
The firm had hired a new legal assistant, Nailah Harris.
Nailah would be working very closely with Fiona and Bradford who were the two most senior members of the firm. Sometimes it was hard to believe that Fiona had been working with the firm for almost fifteen simyears. Finally she was so close to her goal that she could taste it. If she were to make partner before she turned 40 simyears old, then...well, she would make a difference in her law career.
Maybe she would devote more time to her family, read a bit longer to the kids, play a bit harder in the grass and maybe get a little dirty. She was already trying to juggle too much already with her duties as president, lawyer, wife and mother. She was ready to enter another stage of her life, Jesse's 40th birthday had made her rethink some of her life goals. She wasn't sure what her mother would think if she were still around, but Fiona was finally old enough to realize that she wanted slightly different things in her life now that she was older.
He couldn't bear to think about missing out on the little things, the simple things like the sound of Veronika's laughter as he swung her around
the smell of the freshly baked gooseberry turnovers he finally perfected after four trials
or even just listening to his wife's musical voice over meals. Sometimes he wondered why she didn't pursue a singing career, but she was very private about her singing ability and only shared it with those who she truly cared about.
He worried about his eldest son sometimes. Mostly when he was spending time with Jeremy. He wondered what happened to Bill and where had he gone wrong. Was it the right decision to adopt Bill as a single father? Did the lack of a mother figure during his formative years cause him to get into so much trouble with women now? Jesse knew that he had raised Bill better than how he was behaving, he raised him to be a fine man, respectful of women, but...most days he felt like he had failed his son. Fiona would encourage him during those low periods. She'd remind him how children are separate from their parents and their actions sometimes don't reflect upon the parenting that they receive. Jesse knew this was fact, but he also knew that others, like he had done so many times, would judge him because of Bill's actions.
He would try to forget about Bill's actions. He had done the best that he could as a parent and he still had four little ones that still needed him. He focused on his love of tucking his children into bed
pulling the blankets around their little chin,
wondering which one of the twins would insist on sitting up entertaining themselves with a song,
while his oldest would go straight to sleep so that she could wake up early and work on her painting.
He would then go out for an evening jog, leaving Fiona to her bubble bath
and slip back into bed, careful not to wake her.
"Do you think I'm making the right decision?" she whispered as he drew her body closer to his.
"Of course dear. You have to do what is right for you and sometimes that isn't what others expect from you."
"I suppose you're right,"
"Of course I'm right," he teased. "Besides, you're putting everything into place now. By the time you announce your decision, it will be seamless."
"You're right."
"I know, now get some sleep."

The firm had hired a new legal assistant, Nailah Harris.
She was originally from Pahala Shore and was working on her law degree.
Nailah would be working very closely with Fiona and Bradford who were the two most senior members of the firm. Jesse was supportive as always, but perhaps it was because he was content and secure in his own decisions. He had trained as a police officer, then switched to teaching so that he would have a job that didn't have as many physical risks.

Expecting Company, 2005
Peacar, winter, 2005
It was the first large party that Ilila and Brandon hosted since thier arrival to the county. The guest list was small, those sims that they encountered almost daily and of course Brandon's boss. Ilila tried the new cookie recipe that Jolie had given her.
Once the cookies were iced and cooled, Ilila couldn't resist and snuck a bite. The lemon flavor melded with the mint and ginger as if they were long lost siblings. In an effort to save the remaining cookies for the party, she distracted herself with decorations.
Soon the guests had arrived and the small living room was overflowing.
"One day, Jorge, I might have more children than you if I'm not careful." Bradford joked.
"No matter how careful I am, I can't keep the weight off." Jolie complained. "I've come to terms with it now. I'm a mother of five and a pastry chef. There will definately be extra pounds, besides...you can't trust a skinny chef."
"You better make sure none of your boys decide to slip past," Fiona whispered as the couple slipped away for a few moments.
"I'll try."
Ilila was glad when the hired Santa arrived. He was a hit with her students but she didn't expect for him to be such a big hit at the party.
It was almost as if he was cupid, spreading love everywhere as couples soon grew amorous
and kisses were exchanged.
Even Brandon was giving her that seductive look.
---
Elsewhere, families were enjoying fresh meals as the holiday season approached.
"Si'Enya, you might have a gift with food." Sazo said savoring another bite of the perfectly seasoned bass.
"Does that mean I can start dating?"
Sazo almost choked on his fish. "Dating? Who are you thinking of dating?"
"There isn't really a guy, but I thought now would be a good time to ask."
The couple laughed. "I think, Sazo, that perhaps Si'Enya has the makings to become a successful business owner with her negoiation skills."
---
Other families were enjoying one of the few snow free days of winter by relaxing outdoors.
"Look, Lilly," Suzanna pointed. "there's a big blue bird."
"Boo Bird!"
"Daddy's home!" Laci cried running to her father.
"Hello, pumpkin." He said to his oldest before closing his mouth to listen to her retell her busy day.
Afterwards he joined his middle child for some playtime
while Laci checked on Ms. Birdie
and Mr. Wombat before joining her sisters downstairs.
"I think that I might run for election," Suzanna surprised Bradford with her statement.
"Isn't the election over?"
"Yes, but I mean the 2009 election. We'll be done with children by that time, right?"
"I hope so."

Next door, the Wilsonoffs were enjoying the busy season. Rebecca had reopened the Toy Shoppe in time for the holiday buying season and traffic was busy.
Her nephew had even volunteered to help out at the shop in exchange for a paycheck of course.
"Rojo, I really don't need any additional help right now." Rebecca explained careful not to hurt the young man's feelings. She knew Julio would tease her about this later especially considering Rojo's recent crush on his aunt. Rebecca sighed, it was as if puberty had made Rojo aware of every woman simply because they had breasts.
"I could even make deliveries."
"Not right now, Rojo. Maybe this spring, once sales pick up a bit."
Thankfully her brother-in-law, Jorge, wasn't as hard to talk to. Rebecca could feel herself swoon as Jorge stepped into the shop. Naturally she was attracted to him, he and Julio were identical twins, but Jorge had more of a rugged, dangerous appeal to him.
Julio was cute and dependable, like an innocent suburban husband. Rebecca needed that dependable suburban husband, he kept her sane and tolerated her crazy ideas.
He helped her not to go batty when Amanda decided to turn the stairs into a slide,
or when Abel said that Laci's mother was as big as a beach ball,
which naturally didn't end well.
He helped her to appreciate when the twins were playing quietly,
he caused her to laugh when he mentioned that Amanda was still at the age to think boys were stinky
in spite of Amanda's own confession of various crushes
and he kept her hopeful concerning Ana Rayne.
"What can I help you find today, Jorge?"
"Do you have kites, yet? Ashlee has been begging for one, oh and that new fancy toy oven, what's it called?"
"Young Baking Machine,"
"Yes, Grace Elise wants one. Actually she wants a cell phone, but that's out of the picture."
Rebecca laughed. "Of course. The ovens are to the left and kites are on that wall. Make sure you take 10% off, family discount."
"You may not want to say that too loud, most of the hood is related to you."
---
Other couples enjoyed the first falling snowflakes
and traditional kisses underneath the mistletoe as they daydreamed about their future together.
---
On the other side of town, Faith sat alone listening to the crackle of the radio and the small movements inside her belly. Her bump was tiny, barely noticable. If you didn't know Faith, you would have thought that she simply had a big lunch.
The knock startled her. It was late and she wasn't expecting company. She got up and cautiously walked to the door. When she saw who it was she opened the door so he could enter.
"Aren't you going to welcome me home?"
Faith laughed. "You have no home, remember. The world is your home."
"Not anymore, my home is with my two baby girls."
"What makes you think it's a girl."
"Just a hunch."
Faith smiled and stared at the young man. He could have easily kept touring the comedy circuit instead he had returned. They may not know exactly what their relationship was or where it was going, but they did agree to make sure that their child was cared for and loved. That was all Faith was willing to accept at this time even though she knew that Walt wanted more.
"Merry Christmas, Faith."
