Cottage Village

Dre from Neighborhood 99 suggested I try my hand at rental homes again and since I have a new family that I would love to move into a small rental/starter home, then I built something quickly.

Shot from my building hood, my attempt at building two such lots with a fake street bewteen. The orange brick house has a basement, so from hood view it looks like this, but on the lot it looks fine...not sure of why.

Here is a street view of the three homes.

Bringing Home Baby Resar 2008

Resar, fall, 2008

Brandon and Ilila were nervous. This was their fourth treatment round and money, eggs and patience was running out. They were doing their best to try and live their lives as normally as possible in spite of the invasion procedures and numerous heartbreaks over not becoming pregnant...or worse, having a miscarriage. Ilila was running for the hood council even though the doctor said that it was best that she rest and take things easy.

Jorge and Jolie are 41, Grace Elise is 13, Ashlee is 10, Esther is 6, Chase and Amyra are 5

Money was tight around the Dawson house and besides the children were neglecting poor Puggles.  He was beginning to act out as a result, doing things like chewing the furniture or eating slippers.

Follower Series: Carla

I've always found interesting new blogs by looking through the lists of followers and commenters, not only on my own site, but the sites of others. I thought that I would do a monthly profile of the followers and commenters of Apple Valley so that others can see some of the other great blogs that are out there. I only chose the sim related blogs of followers or commenter (no personal or non-sim blogs) and of course there are many followers and commenters that do not have a personal blog.
This month, I'm profiling

Carla

Carla has a sim's related blog called Sullivan.

It's a TS2 blog that follows the lives of the sims that live in Sullivan. The posts start from 2008 and continue to the present, so it's quite a lot of reading. Sullivan does have handy links in the sidebar including one for new visitors to guide them on how to read the blog and where to start. The blog starts with the introduction of a few families such as the Kirby, Draper and Novak families and continues in rounds.

Carefully Measuring, 2008

Remar, summer, 2008

Ray and Lydia Wilsonoff are 39, Alia Shae is 4, Ari and Ava are 3 simlonic months.

The arrival of the twins made things a bit hectic in the Wilsonoff apartment. Thankfully Ray was trying to create a routine and have organized schedules so that the household wouldn't be disrupted as much.

Election Speeches, 2008

Remar, summer, 2008

It was an overcast day in Apple Valley when Fiona entered the administration building. Today was the day of the election speeches and this simyear's election would be significant in that online voting was now allowed.

Xandher's Anomoly Dress w/o stockings

I love Xandher's Anomoly dresses, but the colored stockings...not so much.

So I made a few recolors for my simmies that removed the stockings.

I'm sharing the colors that I made for my simmies, as well as the edited alpha so you can make the rest of the recolors if you wish. Colors include: Dusk, Pumpkin, Crimson, Mulberry and Black.

All About, 2008

Patar, summer, 2008

Tobi is 36; Aaron and Simora are 9; Matt is 5 (Gavin Benson is 34; Cameron Smith is 31, Craig Smith is 3, Christopher Smith is 2)

Tobi struggled through his last repetition, trying not to think about his muscles straining against the weight. He was getting older, he was almost forty, yet he didn't feel as old.

Simmish Life Insurance

This was inspired thanks to the unfairness of my ROS. It gave me three death ROS and this made me wonder about life insurance. Sims get life insurance payouts if they die from old age, but that's not how it is in real life. So since apparently the sim government gives elderly sims life insurance but not adult sims.

I used the current maxis method of life insurance payouts and modified it for adult sims. The maxis method depended on the elderly sim's aspiration level, since I just need a plain and simple life insurance policy, then I decided to use the middle level-gold.

Elder in Gold:
Spouse gets 10,000
Kids get 5,000
Grandchildren get 1,250
Friend w/Lifetime 75-100 get 500
Friend w/Lifetime 50-74 get 250

Since sims are paying for the life insurance via an increase in taxes, then I thought that the benefits wouldn't be as generous. Thus sims in my hood only get a modest life insurance package:

Spouse gets 10,000

Kids get 5,000

All sims that pay taxes, ie-all adults, have a modest life insurance policy until they reach their elder years and then the maxis life insurance kicks in.

A Different Story, 2008

Lovar, spring, 2008

Ming Wuu and Benjamin Endeavor are seniors, Lainey Lorde, S'Ahmisa Warwick and Verde Herendez are juniors.

Benjamin figured that his senior year was meant to be a pretty important one. He made sure that he didn't keep his nose stuck in the books and instead enjoyed his young life, the last hurrah before the real world rudely slapped him in the face and kicked him in the balls.

Barely Wipe, 2008

Hapar, spring, 2008

Principal: Johan Shazad; Primary Teacher K-3: Jasmine Frankson; Primary Teacher 4-6: Ilila Peterson; Secondary Teacher: Simlish & History: Jesse Kent; Secondary Teacher: Math & Science: Krissy Thorn
 Secondary Students: Rosemarie Green and Erricson Frankson are in 11th grade; Si'Enya Warwick and Rojo Herendez are in 10th grade; Elphy Mendenhall, Myra Shazad, Naraj Shazad, Grace Elise Dawson, Bryant Grey, and Annie Grey are in 7th grade;

Primary Students: Abel Wilsonoff Amanda Wilsonoff and Serendipity Herendez are in 6th grade; Rex Mendenhall is in 5th grade; Veronika Kent and Laci McMillian are in 4rd grade; Aaron Sweeny, and Simora Sweeny are in 3rd grade; Breckin Grey and Esther Dawson are in kindergarten

Ilila wished that she didn't have to give this sort of news to parents. To tell a parent that their child had special needs and would require additional help was never an easy pill to swallow.
