Physical Stamina, 2012

Remar, summer, 2012
Johan is 51, Jadhira is 50, Myra and Naraj are 17, Udar is 8

Now that the twins were about to start their senior year, Johan noticed the change even more. He should have expected it.

The side eye rolls whenever he and Jadhira would kiss,

the increase of agruments bewteen parent and child.

"They are trying to assert their independence and individuality," he explained.

"But why now? Isn't that something they were supposed to do when they were two or fourteen?"

"We've been lucky that it's pretty mild. There are some kids that rebel in much more dramatic fashion."

Johan would know, since his last article was published in the Journal of Childish Sims concerning "Rebellion in the Teen Years and the TS2/TS3 divide".

It was that article that placed him in the running for the "Best Scholary Article" award and when he received the news that he won the award and the nice $2500 check that came with it, he was more than a little pleased.

The money would go towards the twins college funds. He and Jadhira were working hard to match simolean to simolean every simolean that the twins placed in their college fund.

They knew that college would be expensive, especially since Naraj wanted to go to medical school to become a surgeon. Besides the tuition, there were application fees for Naraj and the standard testing fees for the SPAT which he was taking this fall.

That would be eight simyears of tuition. Even though Myra had her heart set on WilTech, it didn't mean that her robotry program would be free. It was still pricey, though cheaper than Naraj's eventual tuition bill.

"Dr.Shazad?" the unfamilar voice said on the phone as Johan prepared for his lecture.

"Yes?"

"There's been an accident."

It didn't take long for Johan to run to the medical center, which was surprising given his complete lack of physical stamina, but it was times like this that made the body do more than it could ever do before.

When he arrived, he was too late. He knew that when he dropped the phone and took off running. Still, he had hoped that maybe if he ran fast enough, time would reverse and bring her back to him.

It was a freak accident they said. She had slipped while working and fell down the stairs. Her neck was broken on the impact, snapped in half leaving her head at an unnatural angle. She didn't have a chance.

The staff had cleaned her up nicely, only if you looked closely could you see the slight bruising and the prutusion of bone.

"Oh, my Jadhira," he whispered as tears flowed down his face. "Why did you have to leave me now?"

    1. I had forgotten about that ROS until I entered their house and saw what his biggest fear was. I exited several times and used FFS Debugger to reroll his wants, but that was a stubborn fear and I hated it. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  2. Nooo! :( I thought AV had finally had it's share of death for a while. Poor Johan!

    1. I thought so too and was looking forward to some non-death things, I think I have earned a death pass for the next round. Thanks for commenting and reading.

    1. This family has had it's share of trama. Johan's niece Grace Elise's death, his brother-in-law's rehab, now this. I hope they can hold it together. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  4. Oh no, I can't believe Jadhira is gone! I really loved her and her and Johan as a couple. Like Danie, I thought AV might get a break from death, although the "Fulfill Biggest Fear" ROS is always a risky one. This is so sad.

I did get a giggle at the beginning though - how typical of Johan to approach his kids' burgeoning adulthood in such a scientific fashion!

    1. I mourn this loss as well, I loved my little nerdy couple. I really wished he had a fear for something like losing a skill, but he adores his wife hence his fear of losing her. Thanks for commenting and reading.

  6. This is AWFUL!!! So sad! These two were absolutely perfect for each other, super sweet, and all geeky, and adorable. Stupid Johan, it really is his fault, he should have feared alien abduction, or puking, or falling asleep on the floor. All much more acceptable. Their poor kids. :( I wonder how they will do now.

    1. You're right it is Johan's fault :P These two were such a role model for other nerds and geeks that love exists. I don't know what the future holds for Johan and the kids now that Jadhira is gone :( Thanks for commenting and reading.

  7. Awwww, so sad! I wasn't expecting that. This will be so hard for all the family to cope with.

I've so far been able to avoid a death ROS but the greatest fear one is there in my file, and I'm dreading that something like this could happen.

    1. It was unexpected, so I tried to make the death equally unexpected and a rare event. I hated losing her :( Thanks for reading and commenting.

  9. Why? Why? Why? Why?

Damn, ROS. It has a way of messing things up really bad. Especially the things that you don't want to change.

I feel for this family. I hope the kids will be okay. It's never a good time to lose a parent, but with all the emotions that are evolved with teenhood, it's even worse.

    1. ROSS isn't very nice, Johan is taking it especially hard-naturally. I think he might have to be committed if he talks to that ball one more time, thanks for reading and commenting,
