Hood Council Meeting, 2013

Remar, summer, 2013

S'Ahmisa called the meeting to order quickly. "Let's start with the proposal for separated school buildings, Ilila?"

"I propose that we follow the example of other hoods and have two separate school buildings, one for primary students and the other for secondary students. It will help to have more space as our population grows as the current building is running out of space and has taken space from the third level as well."

"What about funding, can we afford it?"

"Yes, the educational fund has a surplus and we won a grant from STEM labs to increase science, technology, engineering and math curriculum. The grant allows for better equipped classrooms and even hiring additional teachers."

"How will you function as the principal? Will we need to hire an additional principal?"

"No, I will have offices in both schools and will make daily rounds. The ideal would be that the schools are within a short walking distance of each other. The location that the architect identified as ideal is the current location of the school and the additional land surrounding it."

"If funding isn't an issue and there are not anymore objections, I propose we approve this and move on to the next measure. Our website is severely outdated, Cameron?"

"The website hasn't been updated and I propose that instead of the current format which implies weekly updates, that we change the format of the website to hold information about Apple Valley. Basically archives of newspapers, travel information and other non-static information. We should then encourage visitors to access our Welcome Center on blogspot which is more up-to-date."

"Sounds great, also the approval for the train stop in Greymount, or "the big city" as the younger ones call it, has been approved. Also, they have agreed to enter into a sister-city contract with us considering that we owe our roots to Greymount. I will make more information about this endeavor available soon. If there is nothing else, this meeting is adjoined."

  1. For some reason I had no idea Greymount was another place. I just assumed it was just the old name of Apple Valley from the TS1 days. How do the two hoods relate to each other? Is it a case of only some of the Greymount (TS1) Sims moving to Apple Valley after TS2, or something entirely different? (sorry if this is a stupid question - it's late over here!)

    1. Only some Greymount residents moved to Apple Valley, others went to other TS2 hoods. There are more details in the history of Apple Valley found on the welcome page in the sidebar. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  2. That's a great solution, for the primary and secondary schools to share a principal!

I also thought Greymount was just Apple Valley's formet name but I remember you saying at N99 recently that you regretted not using Greymount as your TS2 hood's name. I think? LOL.

  3. I'm excited to see the construction of your second school. Are you planning to build a high school or an elementary school?Which students will remain the old building?I just presumed everyone had two schools already; how big is your hood, in terms of population?I like that you post council meetings, it's great to see what plans are in the works.

    1. Im rebuilding both schools. There is a tour at N99 of the elementary school-starlightsims.yuku.com/topic/62248/apple-valley-primary-academy

My hood is small, I have about 70 playable sims and I try to keep it small by having an healthy emigration policy :)

  4. Hello Apple Valley - greetings from the past! :D I had no idea your hood is still going strong, and yes, I recall Greymount. Miss the good old times, glad that you are still enjoying. In a way TS2 was way easier for the community planning bits. I tried for TS3, it works but feels different. Are there more SUN old timers around?

  6. I really love the idea of one principal! I already have two but it was super hard to decide who to give it too. The one is a brilliant idea especially for AV with the smaller population.
