Resisting - Resar 2003

Resar, fall, 2003
Lyndon is 49, Nicole is 47, Harvis and Susie are 17 (Faith is 19 and a sophmore at PU)

It's the twins senior year at AVA and then they're off to university. For the most part, the twins have been studying hard and researching scholarships. Both twins have already received the SimCity Scholar's Grant, Young Entrapreneur's Award and Harvis earned the Extraterrestial Reparations Grant. Susie isn't worried about scholarship money as both twins received money from thier father's estate and each have about $8,250 left. Perhaps that's why Susie was playing games instead of typing her research paper.

Harvis, on the other hand, was having an intense discussion with his foster father.

"No, we are not buying another telescope." Lyndon said firmly.

Harvis stood there gritting his teeth. His mission was at stake. The voices were louder, demanding that he and his royal siblings return to thier home planet. How could he signal the mothership if he doesn't possess a telescope.

While his foster father talks with his foster mother, Harvis browses the internet for telescopes. Since it was his senior year, Harvis knew that next simyear when he was at university, Lyndon couldn't control what he brought with his own simoleans.

The next morning, Lyndon and Nicole woke up with very romantic moods. After a few rounds of playing the bed they finally climbed downstairs to get breakfast prepared for the twins.

The couple knew that they were late when Harvis pulled out a basket of burnt cinnamon rolls. Harvis rarely cooked and to find him doing so meant that he was starving. After a quick breakfast, the twins rushed out the door running to school to be on time for thier first class.

Nicole and Lyndon were able to eat at a leisurely pace.

"Can you believe that this time next simyear, it will be just the two of us?"

Lyndon grinned. "I can't wait."

"Neither can I...should we look into moving to a smaller place? Maybe a two bedroom apartment?"

"In the Metro?"

"No, maybe next door to the Shazads. Their place seems very nice and compact. It's two bedrooms and a large upper room to be used for anything."

"The only question would be can we afford it?" Lyndon wondered. He wasn't working and Nicole only recieved a small salary with her job as music teacher at the academy.

"I'm sure we can. Especially if you use one of the rooms to do counseling services. I bet you could offer your services to the residents. You're already seeing Jolie and Jorge once a week and then Ginger twice a week and Tobi and Li once a week."

Lyndon thought about how tangled a web of lies becomes. He couldn't share his counseling details with his wife, but seeing those five sims weekly was a juggle for his mind. He had to make sure that he didn't make an indication of how they were all connected. How Jolie's infidelity with Ginger's husband was connected to Ginger and Tobi's continual affair that thankfully they have cooled down to a mostly emotional affair was connected to Tobi and Li's continual frustration with thier marriage.

"I'm not sure how I feel charging them for that, especially as thier pastor." He sighed.

"Hmmm, I guess we could continue to depend on gifts from the community. God will provide."

"Yes, yes he will."

Susie was also thinking about her plans for the future. She was still nursing a crush for Liam and had now focused her attention on learning more of the Way of the Happy Medium. She was teaching a SimJazzer class downtown and had successfully applied to Pierce University.

Her studies were going well, she still had her senior project to finish with her group mates.

"I think that by measuring the borders for the garden first and then comparing different borders, we can then see which landscaping to plant."

Susie cocked her head to the side, glad that their instructor allowed them the opportunity to plant a butterfly garden at the school as thier senior project.

"I think we should work on landscaping first and then fill in the area with borders and seating." She contributed to the conversation.

"We definately need to know which plants attract butterflies before investing too much of our time and money on this project."

Susie nodded. The project was simple-take $500 and design a self substained low maintainence butterfly garden.

"I guess if we each take a few simdays to do our research and then meet at school with our findings, we can chose the landscaping then."

"Sounds like a plan, don't forget to put the research in your bookbag, unlike last time." She teased as the group packed up thier samples.

Inside, Harvis was busy doing research of his own. He had found a way to hack into the database of Simmerville's website and was busy gathering information about 0 and 99. He knew something was on the verge of happening, sightings of UFOs were reported as far as Lakeside Heights.

Finally, Susie was able to drag her twin brother from the computer long enough to eat a grilled cheese sandwich.
"Why haven't you been to work this week?" Susie asked, picking at the rapidly cooling sandwich.
Harvis growled. "Stupid work. Not helping the mission."
"Harvis, you have got to give up on that." Susie begged. She didn't want to admit that the voices were trying to contact her as well, thankfully she has been doing a good job of holding them off...but for how long.
"They're our family, Susie. I can't deny them."
