We are still in desperate need of a primary school teacher and a junior high teacher (if you know of a teacher, or wish to apply, please email me.) Based on the projected growth of the population, we have a large bump in enrollment coming up.
Right now the junior high students are taught alongside the high school students and I handle all the elementary school students. We have two part-time teachers right now. Nicole Humphrey has been teaching music to the students for quite some time now and we just hired Susie MacAstral, a university student, to teach dance class to the students.
We have a cafeteria worker to handle lunches, which each student receives free now thanks to the generous portion of taxes we received. With the money we were also able to add a third floor auditorium for graduations and assemblies. It's small, but there's potential for it to be enlarged later. Classrooms were outfitted with new books and we added additional playground equipment.
Goals:
- New staff/new staff assignments. We are in need of an art teacher, gym teacher, junior high teacher and elementary school teacher. Jesse Kent performs duties as the high school/junior high teacher for now. He will also receive additional duties as a gym teacher until another staff member is added. Nicole Humphrey teaches the music classes, while Susie MacAstral teaches the dance class part-time.
- Additional green space. Remove the soccer goal to free up additional green space for the children to play and relax during recess.
- More field trips. Many business owners have opened their doors to allow students to tour their businesses. Also the students will have the opportunity to visit the museum, hospital and college campus. These field trips will be by grades, since all students at a particular place will be too crowded.
Field trips are a great idea - I hope we get to see one or two of them in the updates. :D
ReplyDelete-Carla, don't worry, you will. Johan and Jesse already have big plans for the field trips.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the field trip idea, too. Great to read about the changes at your schools. I hope you can find the teachers you need to get ready for that enrollment increase.
ReplyDeleteI don't worry too much about bunching my students together. I put the junior highers in with the high schoolers and call it 'Secondary class'. LOL! Maybe in the distant future, I'll expand my Board of Education and hire more teachers for both schools, then I could separate the classes, but I can't be bothered with it right now...I don't have enough playables.
Mr Shazad, the field trip idea sounds awesome and I cannot wait to see how you accomplish this.
ReplyDelete-SH, I might have to do that as well, the secondary class.
ReplyDeleteMayor Luke, thank you. The students are excited about the field trips as well.
