Coloring within the lines, 2018

Havar, fall, 2018
Principal: Ilila Peterson; Primary Teacher K: Jasmine Frankson; Primary Teacher 1 & 2: Walter Gibson; Primary Teacher 3 & 4: Henry Mendenhall; Primary Teacher 5 & 6: Rosemarie Mendenhall

Primary Students:  Abigal Carr, Vivienne Humphrey and Robin Wren are in 6th grade; Ari Wilsonoff-Sagacious and Ava Wilsonoff-Sagacious are in 5th grade, Brooklyn Peterson, Jude Peterson, Claudio Pentragnani, Starling Wren and Nicholas Keller are in 4th grade; Albert Frankson, Isabella Pentragnani and Palila Wren are in 3rd grade; Esperanza Herendez and Audrey Peterson are in 1st grade;

This year they plan a field trip to the newly refurbished fire station.

Captain Wilsonoff greets them and gives them a lecture about fire safety.

For the most part, the students pay attention...somewhat.

After the lecture, they are given a tour of the station.

After the tour, the children watch the captain give a demonstration on fire safety.

Mostly they loved seeing the large flames.

  1. It's taken me over a year but I've read this blog from 1st post to this newest one! I eagerly await each new post now.

I love the idea of a field trip. How do you get them there? Do you have the teacher ask each student to join an outing just for fun?

And would you tell me where the hanging firefighter coats came from? Thanks.

    1. Wow! You get the biggest cookie for reading all those posts! That's over 8 years of blog posts!

To get the kiddos to the lot, I used a teleporter and teleported them all in. It also allows me to make them selectable which is very nice.

The firefighter jacket can be found here

    2. Thanks for the cookie and the link!

I can't remember how I found your blog, but I was so confused on the families and who did what that I decided to go the beginning.

Now that I am caught up, I feel sort of lost without needing to spend time each day reading multiple posts. lol

  2. GREAT screencaps for this! Your fire station looks so realistic. And I could definitely see the kids perked up when there were flames to see!

    1. Thank you, I think lots of kids like fire so it's nice to see that they perked up for that section of the tour. Thanks for reading and commenting

    1. Thank you, I downloaded the fire station because I needed one quickly. Hopefully I'll have more time to build one later. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  4. Very cool! I really need to refurbish my own fire station and this post just reminded me. I remember going on an excursion to the fire station when I was in Kindergarten. I recall basically nothing about it, except the fire safety demo! Not surprised that your AV kids were entranced by that too. :)

  6. That was so cute. I have a fire station sitting around somewhere but I haven't done anything with it. I know how exciting that is for the kids, to be out of the classroom and to see a fire demonstration with fire.
