Our Future, 2020

Remar, summer, 2020
Johan Shazad is 59, Zoe Schel is 37, Udar Shazad is 16, Issac Schel is 16, Jack Schel is 19

narrated by Udar

I'm tired of moving. When dad and Zoe had the twins, they said that the townhouse was too much for two little babies and too many stairs.

Well, dad got a promotion to Dean of Students. Part of his compensation included subsidized housing near Pierce University, so we moved...again.

The house is nice, we each have our own rooms-except the twins. That part is nice, I don't have to share with Issac anymore.

It means that I have room for a mechanical bench and Issac has room for all his books.

We are supposed to be thinking about our future according to all the conversations with dad and Zoe.

Issac and I have been working on our skills since we want to build our Core Skill Exam (CSE) scores for the SPATs. Right now we are trying to study so we can get enough of a score to enter the University of Apple Valley.

I don't think we have the high scores needed to get into Pierce University. Even though dad is Dean of Students there and

Zoe is a professor with dual appointments at Pierce University and University of Apple Valley.

Other than trying to prepare for our exams, the only other big news is Naraj's upcoming wedding. He is getting married in a few simweeks and everything is moving really fast. I don't think I would have agreed to an arranged marriage, but I haven't seen my girlfriend shot in front of me either, so maybe that would have changed my mind.

  1. I love the way you decorated this house :) Glad there is more room for the family and for Udar and Issac to have their own spaces. I'll bet everyone is tired of moving though!

Good luck to Udar and Issac - I hope they will be able to get into the University of Apple Valley after they've improved their SPAT scores!

    1. I've been trying to improve my decorating slowly by slowly. It's a large house on a 2x2 lot, so there is plenty of space. I usually play on 1x2 lots. Thank you for reading and commenting.

  2. Love the look of their new place! Hopefully they'll be happy there for a good while.

If Udar and Issac did get into Pierce, it would be pretty convenient! It would mean not having to do another move quite as quickly as they'll presumably have to if they end up at AV too.

    2. Funny enough, I built this home inspired by your hood. It would be nice, if they get into Pierce, but I feel bad for the faculty, since teaching a class with the sons of the dean would be...interesting to say the least. No pressure, right? LOL. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  3. Their new house looks really nice and hopefully they can stay put for a while! I can understand how Udar is weary of all the moving, but soon he will be off to college, and moving all over again!

Does Pierce offer anything special to deans and professor kids? My old regular state university definitely did, but it wasn't as prestigious as Pierce! Though it might look bad if the dean's kids are at the university! Hopefully they get into a place they enjoy and work towards a career they'll equally like!

    1. Pierce and the University of Apple Valley offer full tuition to the dependents of faculty and staff. So they would save a lot, but the kids have to get accepted, which I'm sure that if they really wanted to go to Pierce, then they would be accepted due to some sort of legacy issue or backdoor admission standard :) Thanks for reading and commenting.

  4. The house looks really great! That's like real life sometimes; the parents are academics but the kids may not be quite as into it as them or have strengths in a different area. Your SPAT system is really cool.
