"Thanks to the incorperation of Apple Valley Metro and Apple Plains, we were able to increase our revenue by over twofold. However, our expenses are increasing as well."
"I can hear you!"
"I think it's wonderful that you're having another child. Our population is low and not to mention the births have not been very staggered resulting in some years the enrollment being near zero and other years, the school is bursting at the seams. We need a more steady population growth. Could we try to convince families to space thier children out?"
"I think any inference on the council's part in the fertility of our residents will backfire. Besides, most of the residents of childbearing age have decided to not have anymore children, or perhaps have thier third or fourth child. Such a policy would be great if all our residents were young newlyweds."
"Jadhira, how is the online resident profile going? You mentioned the directory would be functional by winter."
"The profiles are coming along, the hard part is typing them online since blogger doesn't allow for tables and the process of pasting the information is far more tedious than it should be. Not to mention I've been trying to correct blogger's insistence of deleting the spaces bewteen lines. However, they will definately be ready by winter."
"There are not many residents with the technical savvy needed for advanced blogger formatting. However, we can make a call out to our affilates and others for help on this issue."
"I have noticed an alarming trend around the hood. Several trash cans have been found knocked over and crawling with roaches. Roaches bring diseases that can be fatal if not treated. I propose some sort of fine for trash cans remaining knocked over for more than a simday. We can make random checks and issue fines that way."
"I think some of the local pets and strays are causing most of the issue, however I have seen a sim or two kick a trash can. Perhaps we can add a vandalism fine if we find evidence that a sim has kicked the trash can."
"Very interesting proposal, Julio."
"Also, a lot of sims are becoming too greedy. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to a party to watch sims stuff thier faces beyond belief. Overeating leads to weight gain, high cholestrol and other health issues. "
Fiona blushed and smoothed the bulge in her shirt.
"I see, thank you. Rebecca, you have a proposal?"
"Yes, I've been contacted by a very reputable company. They wish to set up a factory here in Apple Valley. This would increase not only jobs to the area, but revenue from taxes."
"It would also increase polution," Carmela interjected. "I heard of this factory, aren't they rumored to lure teens from school to work in the factory and forgo education."
"If that's the case, then I vote no. Teens must realize that an education will help them succeed, even going to technical school and learning a craft is better than forgoing an education for work in a factory."
"Good point, Johan. Carmela, please present your proposal for summer vacation and educational trips for the children."
"I think that we should encourage our teenagers and university students to seek internships for the summer. These internships can be local or aboard in other hoods. I have a few contacts and I'm sure hoods like Riverdale, Simmington Hills, New Eden, Simberry Fields, or any of the numerous hoods we have connections with wouldn't mind allowing teens and students to obtain internships in thier hoods. Locally we have already obtained positions such as interns with the hood council, small businesses and even on a farm for our teens and students. We can also offer these internships to teens and students of other hoods as well."
"That's a great idea. It allows the students to obtain exposure in a field that they may be interested in and also builds up connections with the other FSBS hoods."
"I propose that the internship program provides for travel arrangements and room and board so that sims of even background can participate. We don't want things such as the cost of a plane ticket prohibiting a sim from participating."
"I think we have enough in the budget to cover the costs for those things, however, room and board. Will we rent several rooms in a hotel, or build a sort of dorm to house the students?"
"Excellant question, let's do some research on the subject, gather opinions from other FSBS hoods and reconvene at a later date. Please remember that you all must submit a council report this year. This meeting is dismissed."

Johan and Jadhira's baby is due Peacar 2004 and is a result of the infamous photo booth woohoo. This is about the third pregnancy as a result of that photo booth!
Yes, those lines being bunched up is not intentional. Whenever I type the story, the lines have spaces bewteen them, but when I go to post, then the spaces disappear. My other issue is that the line spaces are too large! ARGGH!! Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.
Any thoughts on the interhood internships? Good idea or too much work?
I like the thought of interhood internships. It would be a bit of work, but it's a good method of bringing neighborhoods together.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the internship but how woudl we work this? Since we all play at our pace, and we will be in different seasons and months at different times. But maybe we can work something in. IDK.
ReplyDeleteThat photo booth is something else, isn't it? LOL My sims are safe they don't have to worry about the booth. But I'm thrilled for them. Can't wait for the new addition to Apple Valley.
Internships sound cool but I don't envy you trying to figure out how they'd work. I always wonder how you FSBS hoods arrange immigration and have it fit perfectly on both hoods' timelines.
ReplyDelete-mmmcheezy225, it would be some work, but hopefully it will add another dimension to storytelling.
ReplyDelete-riverdale, I guess if the sims are sent to the other hood and then the host hood sends the photos to the native hood for posting-then it can correlate for seasons. IE, a teen comes from Riverdale to AV for an internship, AV sends photos of the trip to Riverdale. Riverdale then posts the photos during the correct season. It would require a bit of advanced planning, ie the teen might be sent to AV during Riverdale's winter, so that the photos can be posted in the upcoming summer.
This is like the third kid of that freakin photo booth. I have another couple that jumped into that booth-but thankfully no baby from the booth, their baby came from good old fashioned trying for a baby all on thier own in spite of their marital status...or lack therof.
-Sullivan, it's really fun being a FSBS hood, you make a lot of great friendships since you're always emailing different ways to connect the hoods.

ReplyDeleteAnother way to post information is to make the tables in Excel and then paste them into the blog as pictures. It may take a couple of tries to get the resolution right so the text and numbers are readable.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of picture resolution, is there a way to upload photos at custom resolutions (beyond the large, medium, and small)? I can increase the display dimensions after uploading, yet the picture comes out blurry after enlarging.
-SimCitizen, thanks about the tip for posting tables. :) I have no clue about the enlarging photos, I think there might be some tricks to it since so many blogs have HUGE photos.
ReplyDeleteI use an HTML code to post the pictures into my blog, and it allows me to set a number to the height and width of the picture.
ReplyDeleteThis comment box won't allow me to put the HTML code here. Sorry, I tried. But you guys can email me if you want to know. (simmingtonhills at hotmail.com)
I do a lot of copy/paste inside my blog. When I want to paste a new picture, I just delete the inside of the image quotations and put another Direct Link there.
Yesterday, I adjusted the size of my latest blog pictures and now my height and width sizes are 425; it's the biggest size my blog template will hold, and my pictures came out pretty large. I was hoping it would make my pictures clearer, but it only helped a teeny bit. I'm living with it, although it bugs me to death. :P

ReplyDelete-SH, thanks for posting your advice about the HTML code and offering your email for more questions. Perhaps you should create a post about blogger.com for simmers :P
