Community Director Note: Updates 2005

Carmela Herendez

I am hopefully submitting this report before the deadline.

Community Garden
The Community Garden is complete. We will hold the grand opening ceremony during the Apple Festival 2006.

Apple Festival 2006
Plans for the Apple Festival 2006 are underway. Grex Grey has agreed to lead a class in vegetable planting, Susie MacAstral is leading a class in pop and lock, while the Herendez Foundation for the Arts will be selling artwork to raise money for scholarships to our first art camp. Several awards will also be given including: Spirit of the Community; Beautiful Apple and Green Apple awards. Nominations are now being accepted until the end of 2005. The nominated sims will be featured in the 2005 paper.

SUN Exchange
I am still hoping to revive the tradition of SUN Exchanges. Families would be asked to stay for one simyear to gain the most out of the experience. Families visiting Apple Valley will be able to stay in one of the many apartment choices here. We're looking for interested families from the hood and other hoods to exchange with. Interested families from other hoods please apply by sending an email noting your family size, interests and small paragraph detailing what you hope to gain from the exchange.

NewRIP
NewRIP is still accepting new members. The last event was a potluck for new residents Brandon and Ilila Peterson. Members of NewRIP visited the couple with baked goods and frozens meals to welcome them to the neighborhood.

New Policies
-Pets must have collars. Pets found without collars will encounter a $500 fine.

  1. Oh, the Apple Festival sounds like fun.

Have you noticed that the Sims United Neighborhoods hasn't updated in a while?

  2. I miss the SUN Expo. :( And yes, I've noticed it hasn't been updated in a while, like since Nov. I submitted my hood update info back in Feb. and it still hasn't been posted.

  3. Can't wait to see the Apple Festival! Sounds like lots of fun is afoot for the Sims of Apple Valley!

There's a place near here that has an Apple Festival but from what I can tell, nothing happens except a complete absence of parking spaces on that day! LOL.

  4. -Francesca, yea the SUN hasn't updated in a while, I think the focus is TS3.

-Riverdale, I miss it as well, but there are still FSBS hoods out there connecting via the boards.

-Carla, LOL! Hopefully this year's festival will be more than just taking up parking spots :P
