Hood Council Meeting, 2019

Remar, summer, 2019

mini-update

The economy in Apple Valley still hadn't recovered fully.

The good news is that the recession has stopped and there is a plateau.

The bad news is that there isn't any upward growth yet.

To spur economic activity, the hood council puts forth various proposals by each council member. There was a "Back to Your Roots" campaign, urging former Apple Valley residents to return to Apple Valley with subsidized relocation expenses.

Business taxes were lowered to encourage more hiring, special incentives were offered for the film industry, and tourism and welfare initiatives were increased. The hospital was being updated and grants for additional public service employees were being researched.

Some good news is that due to a large grant from the N99 Foundation, residents were gifted with §1000 Kaching Grant. The grant is to be spent on exterior fixes and renovations. Apple Valley won the grant during the N99 Foundation's Monthly Challenge awards that were focused on the outside of the buildings. Residents have until the end of simyear 2020 to spend their Kaching Grant on exterior renovations before the grant is revoked. Already residents were making good use of the grants and even adding some of their own funding to improve their exterior. The simoleans being spent on local businesses and services were a big confidence boost.

Every step of the hood council would be under intense scrutiny

as S'Ahmisa was officially the vice-presidential pick for the 2020 elections.

That meant every policy or action, political or personal,

would be analyzed by the media for the voters to digest and tear apart.

S'Ahmisa's family was ready and she was ready. It was her time to shine.

  1. Congrats on the N99 Kaching Grant :) I can see that it was very welcome to Apple Valley, and the hood council has some good ideas that will hopefully help AV's economy. And good luck to S'Ahmisa in the elections! It's good to know that her family is behind her as well, I remember the last time she was seriously involved in a campaign being a major bump in the road for her and Rashid. I'm sure it will work out this time though!

    1. Yes, when she ran for mayor it was a major turning point in her life. I don't doubt that this campaign will affect her family as well, but I don't think there will be any breakups about it. Thanks for reading and commenting.

    1. I try to work in all the little quirks, they are so cute. Maxis spent a lot of time giving us all sorts of details about the sims world and then we have a great community so I try to work in a lot of details. Thanks for reading and commenting.
