Love the Way You Lie, Part 1, 2019

Havar, fall, 2019
Bill is 35, Emma is 34, Jacob is 13 and Abigal is 12

optional soundtrack-Love the Way You Lie-Eminen ft Rihanna

narrated by Jacob

I don't understand my parents. They're having another baby, but I hear them argue all the time. I don't know why they are still together. They seem like they hate each other's guts sometimes and then other times it's like they can't breathe without the other.

Thankfully science isn't so complicated. It's nice and rational.

Even my ants are rational.

They follow orderly lines in orderly tunnels and lead orderly lives, not like my parents.

I found a job this past summer. I work with Mr. Wren, a local marine biologist, at his lab.

I mostly feed the specimans and take notes. Sometimes I chum fish for him and Mr. Smith, a whale tracker. I like what I am doing, it's not so removed from living organisms as dad's job as an inventor in his lab, but I'm also able to spend lots of time alone analyzing reports and samples.

It's not that I don't like being around other sims, but I'm not good at it. Abigal decided that she had to have a birthday party this summer.

I was forced to go bowling with her and her friends at the Wolf Den.

I mostly hung back and stared awkwardly at Olivia. I like her...a lot, I guess.

She's pretty quiet and she mostly hangs out with her sisters and cousins and Alia Shae. She seems nice. She smiles at me when I talk to her and she seems like she's listening to me when I talk about my ants. At least, I think she is listening.

She asks questions about them and she even remembers that I named the queen ant, Queen Bee. She thought it was funny since it's an ant and not a bee, haha, get it? Uh...

Thankfully, the birthday party didn't last long and

Abigal spent a lot of her birthday money on the arcade games

and weird cheap trinkets.

I was just happy to be back home...alone...in my room...alone.

  1. I can see why Jacob enjoys solitude and the rational patterns of science, when his parents' relationship is so volatile. He seems to be enjoying his new job, too - the fishies must be quite soothing :)

By the way, I love the deco around the little minigolf putting things - you come up with some great ideas for your lots :)

    1. I tried to recreate a fun putt putt golf place that I used to go to as a child. Not even close, so I'm glad you like the decor. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  2. Jacob's passion for science makes a lot of sense, given his family life! It's sweet to see him developing a little thing for Olivia - I'll be curious to see how (or if) that becomes anything more serious and how she feels about the situation.

    1. I think Olivia is pretty naive of his feelings at this point since all he does is stare and stutter around her. They have a prom coming up, so I can't wait to explore their relationship and see if anything changes. I doubt her uncle Anthony would be very happy if anything does change. He's a bit protective of the girls. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  3. mm I love that song. <3 Poor Jacob, he's at an awkward stage, and seems to be a bit awkward himself which doesn't make things any easier. I'm glad that Olivia is kind towards him, even if she oblivious to his feelings, if she were meaner of a sim, she could really hurt him. The birthday party and bowling looked fun, and wow, I'm surprised they're having another baby too.

    1. Olivia can be mean when she needs to be, but she usually doesn't like to be very mean. It's more of a protective mechanism for her. Don't get me started on them expanding their family...ugh
