Hood Council Meeting
Fiona was far too heavy to do much work. Thankfully Jesse was pitching in more than usual. After playing with Veronika outside,
he came indoors to set the girls up for an hour of quiet playtime in their playroom while mommy holds a very important meeting.
Fiona was very grateful for that as she said goodbye to Brandon Peterson. Thankfully the young man had agreed to a quick meeting at her home to give her the details of the fort and new troops. Thankfully, the earlier issues with blocked cars on the fort had been solved and everything was running smoothly...so far.
"This is getting out of hand," Fiona remarked looking up from the stack of papers in her lap.
"What's the toll again?" Carmela asked making notes.
"Ten sims," Suzanna supplied.
"I just recovered myself," Rebecca offered. Thankfully, she didn't suffer anything more than a weekend of bedrest couldn't cure.
"What about the other sims?"
"Tobi Sweeny is our newest case that has tested positive for the virus. We did a test at the school and three students tested positive-Simora and Ping Sweeny and Amanda Wilsonoff. Grace Elise Dawson was just released from the hospital."
"So there have been ten sims who tested positive for the Plumbbob Virus?"
"Yes, of those three had very acute cases that required them spending some time in the medical centre."
"Any progress on a vaccine?"
"None yet, but I think we are closer. We hired a research assistant who discovered the healing powers of sea lice. We have extracted an essence from the sea lice that we are currently testing."
"Should we close the school for a few weeks to allow the virus to stop spreading?"
"That is an option, however we will also need to address the adult population as well. Are we going to cancel work?"
The room was silent, "I think that we need to devote more time and simoleans to the possibility of a vaccine, especially considering the effects of this virus and it's known history of wrecking havoc on hoods. At the same time, we need the residents to remain calm. Agreed?"
Every sim nodded.
"We'll cancel school and work for a week. We'll declare it a hood wide holiday."

Wow! Now can you tell me a little more about this plumpbob virus? Is it real or did you make it up for the hood? It sounds nasty that it can mess up a neighborhood like that?
ReplyDeleteI hope they are able to find a cure soon! Sick sims are never a good thing.
If you are needing financial donations, maybe a fundraiser of some sort will be helpful?
ReplyDeleteSimmington Hills will help out in any way.

PS. Glad to see Rebecca is doing fine. Keep us posted about Amanda...and also little Ana Rayne.
This is certainly worrying, if the virus has become bad enough to shut down the whole hood. Somehow, I don't think any of the kids are going to mind the week long holiday from school though!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds serious. Maybe the Laurel Quarterly can write up a health advisory for the LC's residents. Could you write up the symptoms on here or BTS?
ReplyDelete-Riverdale, the Plumbbob Virus is made up thanks to the ROS for this simyear. I took inspiration from this year's swine flu with the students.
ReplyDelete-SH, thankfully the county budget has money and even if it didn't, Fiona would take money from one fund or another to funnel into the research considering the situation.
-Carla, the kids won't mind at all ^_^ but the adults know about the risks.
-LaToya, basically the symptoms are the same as the flu. Dr. Wilsonoff will publish a report soon.
Thank goodness. I was thinking your hood was really in trouble. (yes, blonde moment LOL)
ReplyDeleteI hope Apple Valley is able to get a handle on this before it gets too bad. Riverdale had a pretty bad outbreak of the flu over the fall and winter. So maybe it's just something traveling around SimNation. ;)
I'm sure the kids won't mind the holiday, but it is worrisome. I thought of H1N1 when reading.
ReplyDeleteI thought of h1n1 while reading too. They shut schools down in our area. I imagine the kids will be quite happy to have a little break from school, and hey, the parents won't have to worry about who will take care of the kids since the city is pretty much shutting down. Keep those sickies at bay. You could download those face masks, and make sickies wear them when they leave their house.
ReplyDeleteI hope this virus passes quickly.
-Riverdale, sorry for the confusion, it was/is ROS related ^_^
ReplyDelete-Francesca, I thought you might considering that you work with kids.
-Maisie, I didn't think about downloading face masks, I might do that.
