All Declared, 2011

Resar, fall, 2011

Bill is 27, Emma is 26, Jacob is 5 and Abigal is 4.

Bill and Emma were finally getting their dream house.

Emma didn't think that it was much of a dream home.

Bill tried to convince her that it was worth it.

"We get a $10,000 grant if we buy it. It can go towards the mortgage or decorating the house."

He tried to sell her on the potential of the house and the great bones of the structure.

Emma just saw a lot of work, but she also saw a glimpse of their future.

They hired professionals to work on the hard projects like replacing the windows and repairing the roof, but they saved most of the interior work for themselves.

It would be a while before everything was perfect and Jacob's room still had the awful carpeting, but at least it was clean...mostly.

The downstairs was mostly done with a reasonable kitchen and dining area.

Thankfully, they got a break from the house and dust with a beach trip. The beach house looked the same as it did years ago, technically it wasn't a beach house as it wasn't on the beach, but it did have a view of the beach.

That weekend all the members of the Carr clan were there. Cousins enjoyed each other

and adults enjoyed the hot tub

and teens enjoyed just the warm sun.

Feeding such a large crowd meant that all hands were needed in the kitchen,

Fiona helped with the mac & cheese, but Jesse was on grilling duty.

"This is how you make a tasty set of ribs," Jesse instructed his youngest son, Jeremy.

Jesse spent a lot of time at the grill,

but in the end, it was worth it. There were ribs and blackened catfish, hot dogs and hamburgers for the kids, Fiona's mac & cheese, Bradford's cherry pie, Suzanna's salad and Laci and Veronika's gelatin.

Everyone ate until they were stuffed

and then ate some more.

All declared it was the best beach weekend

and the best food ever.

To celebrate they took a family photo of the event, because who knew when they would be able to get all the members in the same area again.

  1. I can't wait to see what Bill and Emma do with the house, once it's all done. I like what I'm seeing so far. ;)

Good to see the whole clan getting together at the beach house too - I remember those pics from your contest entry!

  2. I see great potential in Bill and Emma's house and can't wait for the finished product. Loved the scene with the construction workers.

The Carr's family get together was lovely and the food looked awesome! Made me hungry.
    Can't wait to read more.

I also want to thank you as well. I get a lot of inspiration from your blog especially from your BTS one. I've been a quiet reader of your blog, my apologies for that and will comment from now on. Thanks so much for reading mines, and I couldn't believe I didn't have you on my blog roll at first, but I fixed that! ;)

  3. Carla, they have actually done a lot more work thanks to some bonuses, I wish it wasn't so easy to get money in the game, thanks for reading.

Nicky, the Carr family reunion was from the N99 contest and it was a lot of fun to do, thanks for reading and commenting.

  4. I've been trying to join the N99 forum but I get an error page every time I try and register on there. Wish I could have seen the contest.

  5. I love that pic of the worker on the roof! It looks great, I can't wait to see the end result. And what a great idea! I love that they could all get together!

  6. Another great update - that house certainly is a "fixer-upper", I look forward to seeing what Bill and Emma make of it. The family reunion looked like fun as well and it's great that they all enjoyed it.

By the way, how many comments have you had from non-Simmers? Because you'll probably get at least one at some point this week - just as a heads-up in case some unfamiliar name shows up asking things that sound blatantly obvious to us, one of my friends was curious about how the Simming community and FSBS worked and I recommended your blog as a good starting point. Hope you don't mind.

  7. Nicky, that's odd. I think I heard of it happening before, I'd keep trying, maybe the moderators are processing your application.

Mizzgin, I was trying out some pose boxes and Decorgal's action paintings, I do wish I had more construction clutter, but Emma wouldn't let me have them live in dust for too long. Thanks for reading.

VT, Apple Valley now has quite a few of these tiny fixer uppers on 1xn lots, they fit in nicely in my hood. I love comments and questions, thanks for reading.

  8. I'm dying to see what Bill and Emma are going to do with the house! That house just has so much potential!

I loved the get-together at the beach house! I keep telling myself I need to do those things some more. I always love seeing them on other simers' blogs!
They seem like a nice bunch! I especially love the familypicture at the end, I never bother to take those, but it looks great!

  9. The fixer upper looked the part! :) That carpet and the wallpaper together - *shudder* The pictures from the beach house were quite the opposite - it's lovely! And all the pictures are great as usual. I still don't know all the sims, so I can't comment much on the events, there is still a lot of backwards reading to do ;-)

  11. Looking forward to seeing their house all fixed up. Nice on the loan that can go a good distance. Funny on them in their undies at breakfast, poor kids haha. Loved the get together at the beach

  12. Maisie, I thought about that as well, they need to find some appropiate underwear now that the kids are older, can't be staring at the parents' goodies on display like that, thanks for reading.

  15. Thanks for taking such good care of them and giving them a better and much fuller life than they would have had, had they stayed in my game. :)
