Any Other Way, 2021

Givar, winter, 2021

earlier that night

Can we come over?

Yes-meet you at the door.

Olivia snuck downstairs and let her friends into the home.

"I couldn't get the blankets, sorry. They're in my aunt's room."

"It's ok, thanks for letting us crash again."

"No problem. Good night."

"Olivia?"

"Hmmm?"

"Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas."

Susie woke up in a cold sweat only to find Anthony climbing out of the bed.

"The blankets are still in our room."

"It's supposed to freeze tonight."

They tiptoed downstairs and found a familiar sight. Usually they left the spare blankets in the hallway, but they forgot that evening due to the holiday activities.

They quietly tucked the blankets around the sleeping children and turned up the heat.

Susie smiled wryly, "I remember when we first started dating.

I thought my future would have been the two of us, one kid, a condo downtown and one of those tiny dogs that you can carry in your purse.

Instead, I often find myself taking care of nine children each night."

"Do you regret it?"

Susie shook her head, "I wouldn't have it any other way."

  1. Thank God for Susie and Anthony being willing and able to take care of her sister's kids as well as the Carr kids when the need arises. Do their parents even know their kids took off?

  2. OH thank the heavens. This is so sweet <3. I was worried for a second when they found the kids but I am pleased at the outcome.

  3. Susie and Anthony are good people. I'm glad taking care of nine kids each night doesn't seem to faze them, because the Carr kids really need it. :(
