Lovar, spring, 2012
They had been there for hours and nothing was working, in fact, her labor had stalled.
"I think it's time we tried few interventions." Dr.McMillian said reviewing the vitals for the baby. She didn't mention that the baby was beginning to show signs of distress, she needed this couple to stay positive and focused.
They quickly agreed and within a few hours they were pushing. Dr.McMillian was going on several cups of coffee since she was the only one in the hospital that night. She really needed to hire a nurse to assist with these births.
"One more push, the head is out."
Lainey grunted and Suzanna caught the tiny baby. The couple held their breath as the room was silent.
Not again, Lainey thought turning her head aside.
Then they heard it, their baby's sweet cries.
"Congratulations, she's very healthy."
"Welcome home, Esperanza," they whispered as they showed her the nursery. Esperanza, or hope, since she gave them hope.
---
They were trying to remain hopeful, but cautius. It was only their second round of fertility treatments and it took several rounds with the twins.
"How are you feeling?" Suzanna asked the couple in front of her.
"I'm doing well, tired a bit, but there is a lot going on with school."
Suzanna nodded, "and you'll be even more tired since the results show that you're pregnant."
"Pregnant? Are you sure?"
Suzanna nodded, "Very much so. Continue to take your vitamins and we'll schedule a follow-up visit soon."
"We're pregnant!"

Yay! Congrats to everyone.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm excited about the twins especially! Thanks for reading.
DeleteEsperanza, love that name. For a minute I was worried that things wouldn't end well again. Happy to see that it all worked out.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Brandon and Ilila on the baby/babies.
Esperanza symbolizes a lot for this family. They really need hope and she is that for her parents, thanks for reading.
DeleteOh, I was holding my breath along with Lainey and Verde until I read Esperanza cried! So glad they have a healthy baby now!
ReplyDeleteAnd YAY for Brandon and Ilila! I kind of figured they were going to get pregnant, because I spotted them in a pic you posted at N99, with the twins and a baby on the pavement, lol! But I'm still so, so glad for them!
I was wondering if you noticed that :) I'm glad that Esperanza is healthy, I don't know how much grief this couple could stand.
DeleteAwwww congratulations to everyone - especially Lainey and Verde!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for these two, especially since Lainey only wants one baby, so this may be their last. Thanks for reading!
DeleteGlad Esperanza is okay! Love the name and so happy that Ilia and Brandon are expecting again.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how they would have handled it if something were wrong with Esperanza. Thanks for reading and commenting.
